The Florida Insurance Department will remain closed on Tuesday, September 12, 2017. A few staff members will be working remotely or on site. They continue to process adjuster applications and reply to adjuster-related email inquiries. In Florida, a licensed and appointed General Lines agent, resident or non-resident, may adjust claims for any company they are appointed with, per the following Florida statute:
626.862 Agents; adjustments by. - A licensed and appointed insurance agent may, without being licensed as an adjuster, adjust losses for the insurer represented by him or her as agent if so authorized by the insurer. The license and appointment of the agent may be suspended or revoked for violation of or misconduct prohibited by s. 626.611 1f.
