The Iowa Insurance Division has implemented and mandated OPTins (Online Premium Tax for Insurance) for submission of Purchasing Groups, Risk Retention Groups, and Surplus Lines company renewal registrations.
The Iowa forms are now available in OPTins for download. Company registration renewals are processed annually and due by March 1.
Additionally, all Surplus Lines Companies and Risk Retention Groups must submit their Signed Jurat Page from their Annual Statement via OPTins. Please upload an electronic copy under ‘Additional Information’. Name the attachment ‘Signed Jurat Page’. The signed Jurat Page is due by March 1.
Do not mail in to the Iowa Insurance Division any paper renewal forms or check payments. They have transitioned to a completely electronic system for payment and submission of renewal forms.
All renewals MUST BE filed under the company name. If you are processing a renewal for more than one company, please submit a separate form for each company.
When submitting company group renewals, after you click Create Filing, please update the ‘Filing Year’ to 2018. All company renewals submitted via OPTins should be filed under ‘Filing Year’ 2018, not 2017. At this time, OPTins automatically defaults to ‘Filing Year’ 2017, it is necessary to select the correct year.
Before you upload your form or make payment, please make sure the ‘Filing Year’ reflects 2018. Any company renewals submitted via OPTins from January 1 to March 1 will renew the company’s registration for the current year.
If you already submitted for Filing Year 2017, the Iowa Insurance Division will update the filing year for you to 2018.
