SC| The South Carolina Department of Insurance has issued a mandatory Liability Data Call to all insurers authorized to write property and casualty insurance in the state, requiring detailed reporting on commercial general liability and liquor liability coverage to assess market availability, rate trends, and profitability in accordance with legislative mandates1.
- All authorized property and casualty insurers (including surplus lines) must complete and submit the Liability Data Call Template in Excel format by August 31, 2025, aggregating data at the holding company group level if applicable; companies with no relevant data for the past 10 years must submit a signed zero reporting statement instead.
- Failure to comply with the data call—including late or inaccurate submissions—may result in regulatory penalties, including suspension or revocation of an insurer’s certificate of authority or administrative fines, as mandated by South Carolina law.
- Submitted data will be kept confidential and only released in aggregated form for public disclosure; further instructions and the required template are available on the Department’s website, and questions should be directed to PCmail@doi.sc.gov.
