DE| The Delaware Department of Insurance’s Bulletin No. 155 reminds all property and casualty carriers operating in Delaware of their obligations under 18 DE Admin. Code § 901 regarding arbitration petitions. Carriers must respond to properly filed arbitration petitions within 20 business days and pay the required respondent filing fee, ensuring petitions are promptly routed to legal counsel without delay. Requests for continuances due to internal processing issues will not be granted, and delays will not meet the “manifest injustice” standard for reopening closed cases. Noncompliance may lead to regulatory review and penalties under 18 Del. C. §§ 329 and 520. Carriers must also update designated arbitration contact information within 30 days of any personnel change and direct related questions to the Department.
