WA| On Friday, October 10, 2025, the Washington State Office of the Insurance Commissioner (OIC) emailed the following important reminder regarding ground ambulances and balance billing:
Locally Set Ground Ambulance Rate Submissions Due November 1, 2025
The 2024 Legislature included ground ambulance service organizations (GASO) in the Balance Billing Protection Act (BBPA) through Substitute Senate Bill 5986 (SSB 5986). The new law requires local governmental entities to submit their ground ambulance service organization (GASO) rates to the OIC.
These rates are effective date of January 1, 2026.
