MI| Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services Bulletin 2026-21-INS, issued August 25, 2026, announces updated hospital eligibility lists for enhanced reimbursement under Michigan’s automobile insurance law and supersedes Bulletins 2025-24-INS and 2021-34-INS. The updated indigent-volume list identifies hospitals with indigent patient volumes of 20%–29.99% or 30% or more as of July 1, 2026, based on Michigan Department of Health and Human Services data. A separate list identifies American College of Surgeons–verified Level I or II trauma centers eligible for enhanced reimbursement for treatment of an emergency medical condition before the patient is stabilized and transferred; this list will be updated as verification status changes. Both lists are available on DIFS’s auto insurance industry resources webpage. The bulletin also maintains the existing designations of Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital (NPI 1730133463) and DMC Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan (NPI 1245293117) as the two freestanding rehabilitation facilities eligible for enhanced reimbursement under MCL 500.3157(3) and (4)(b).
