Missouri Expands Moratorium: Condominium Associations Now Protected from Insurance Policy Cancellations After Storms

MO| Missouri Insurance Bulletin 25-11, issued on November 4, 2025, from the Missouri Department of Commerce and Insurance, serves as an addendum and clarification to Bulletin 25-10 regarding post-storm cancellations and non-renewals of insurance policies. The Bulletin extends the prior moratorium to also cover master condominium association policies, ensuring that these and homeowners’ and dwelling policies remain continuously in force for properties impacted by recent storms while the State of Emergency is in effect, aiming to address consumer complaints and coverage gaps during ongoing recovery efforts.

Key Points:

  • The Bulletin now applies to master policies issued to condominium associations (not individual unit policies), providing protection for hundreds affected by non-renewals and cancellations during active repairs and claim negotiations.
  • Coverage continuity is expected by the Department for homeowners, dwelling, and affected condominium master policies, with insurers directed to use best judgment regarding reinstatement and extension, while the State of Emergency is active (Executive Order 31 currently expiring December 31, 2025).
