New Hampshire Insurance Department Warns Producers Against Fraudulent Health Policy Enrollments

NH| The New Hampshire Insurance Department issued Bulletin Docket #INS 25-038-AB in response to numerous consumer complaints about insurance producers misrepresenting themselves or fraudulently enrolling individuals in health insurance policies. The Department found that, in many cases, the “producer of record” listed on applications was not the person who actually interacted with the consumer, and that some producers were improperly using the National Producer Number (NPN) override function on Enhanced Direct Enrollment (EDE) platforms to submit applications under another producer’s credentials, both of which are violations of New Hampshire law. Producers engaging in these practices may face administrative penalties, including fines and license suspension or revocation, and the Department encourages questions to be directed to its enforcement division.

Key Points:

  • Signing as “producer of record” without consumer interaction or using the NPN override function on EDE platforms violates New Hampshire law.
  • Such violations may result in administrative penalties, including fines and license suspension or revocation.
  • The Insurance Department is actively investigating these complaints and offers assistance for any related questions.
