MI| Michigan DIFS Bulletin 2026-22-INS reminds reciprocal insurers that subscribers must sign the power of attorney appointing an attorney-in-fact under Michigan’s Uniform Power of Attorney Act, effective July 1, 2024. Electronic signatures are permitted if they comply with the Uniform Electronic Transactions Act, and earlier powers of attorney remain valid if they met the predecessor law’s requirements, including a signature. Reciprocal exchanges must update affected filings by November 30, 2026, and noncompliance may result in administrative action.
- Obtain subscriber signatures; compliant electronic signatures are acceptable.
- Revise filings that allow powers of attorney to take effect without signatures.
- Submit required updates, including continuous-filing changes, by November 30, 2026.
