PR| The Puerto Rico Office of the Commissioner of Insurance issued Circular Letter No. CC-2026-2066-AF calling a statutory virtual meeting of the Insurers Syndicate for the Joint Underwriting of Medical-Hospital Professional Liability Insurance. The meeting will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at 9:30 a.m., with SIMED to provide access links to members. Participation in the Syndicate is mandatory for Puerto Rico-authorized insurers writing the specified property and casualty lines, and voting power will be based on each member’s proportionate share of prior-year net direct premiums written in those lines.
- Required action: Each insurer should appoint an authorized representative using the enclosed designation form, executed by its president, secretary, or another authorized representative. The completed form must be submitted before the meeting begins, and the Commissioner strongly encourages all members to ensure representation because of the importance of the matters to be considered.
- Meeting and voting: Each attending member may vote on matters before the Syndicate. Vote weight will reflect the insurer’s 2025 net direct premiums written in Puerto Rico for the covered insurance classes relative to the Syndicate-wide total; premium distributions, including 2025 medical-hospital professional liability premiums, will be provided at the meeting.
