SC| Bulletin 2026-01, issued by the South Carolina Department of Insurance, offers guidance for the 2026 producer appointment renewal cycle, which must be completed online through NIPR between September 1 and September 30, 2026. The Department reminds insurers that producer appointments in South Carolina are renewed every two years, and carriers are responsible for reviewing their producer rosters, deciding which producers to keep, and updating their producer licensing contact email in SBS so all renewal notices are received. Any producer appointments the company does not intend to keep must be terminated no later than August 26, 2026; after that date, terminations cannot be made against the 2026 invoice, and any newly added appointments will fall into the 2028 renewal cycle instead of appearing on the 2026 bill. All renewals must be finalized by September 30, 2026, or the company will automatically incur a non‑waivable late fee of $250 per appointment in addition to the normal renewal fees, and previously appointed producers cannot be treated as “new” appointments after that date to avoid the penalty. NIPR will stop handling renewals on December 1, 2026, after which any remaining renewal requests must be sent directly to the South Carolina Department of Insurance with the NIPR invoice, producer fees, and applicable penalties, excluding any NIPR processing fees from the payment amount.
