NC | On Thursday, November 19, 2020, the North Carolina Department of Insurance is going live on the newest version of State Based Systems (SBS). This transition will require the temporary shutdown of North Carolina’s professional insurance licensing operations, including online applications submitted via NIPR.
Key dates and times include:
Friday, November 13th: NIPR stops accepting online submissions (applications, appointments and terminations, and contact change requests) that affect the North Carolina Department of Insurance SBS database at 4 p.m. ET. North Carolina’s professional insurance licensing operations using SBS will be unavailable starting at 5 p.m. ET.
Thursday, November 19th: North Carolina’s professional insurance licensing operations are available using SBS at 8 a.m. ET and NIPR begins accepting online submissions at 10 a.m. ET.
CHANGES FOR INDUSTRY effective November 19, 2020:
- All active companies will be assigned a new North Carolina Company Number. Look up your new Company Number using the free Lookup tool on the SBS website. Your NAIC company number (NAIC CoCode) will remain the same.
- All North Carolina Professional Bail Bondsman will use the licensee services in SBS for Organizations to submit their monthly bail bonds reports. See more information under the ‘SBS for Organizations’ section in the flyer linked below.
