PA | Pennsylvania Acting Insurance Commissioner Michael Humphreys today issued the following statement in response to the federal judge’s decision striking down key preventive services covered under the Affordable Care Act:
“District Court Judge Reed O’Connor’s decision today is a major step backwards for those who receive health coverage on the individual market or through their employer, and for our country as a whole.
“Consumers should not have to gamble with their health and choose to have a preventive screening based on their ability to pay up-front costs for it. Every Pennsylvanian has a friend, colleague, or family member that may have benefited from early detection; this decision effects all of us.
“The department will be closely monitoring the impact of this decision and will take every necessary step to ensure that consumers are protected.”
