Division of Insurance goes beyond urban centers and adds sites around the state.
DENVER, CO | The Colorado Division of Insurance (DOI), part of the Department of Regulatory Agencies, recently doubled the number of testing sites for insurance licensing, adding seven new sites in rural areas around Colorado.
In addition to regulating insurance companies, the DOI also licenses and regulates insurance agents, more formally called insurance producers, who sell policies. Part of that licensure is required testing.
The new sites are in the following locations.
- Alamosa – Trinidad State Junior College
- Edwards – Colorado Mountain College, Vail Valley Campus
- Fort Morgan – Morgan Community College
- Glenwood Springs – Colorado Mountain College, Glenwood Center
- La Junta – Otero Junior College
- Rifle – Colorado Mountain College, West Garfield Campus
- Steamboat Springs – Colorado Mountain College, Alpine Campus
“It is critical that our state expands access to ensure there are more resources available to better serve our rural communities. As my administration works to lower the cost of health insurance, these new testing sites will help communities, families, and individuals in rural Colorado by bringing in more insurance agents to sell those health policies, along with other types of insurance,” said Governor Jared Polis.
“With these new sites, we’ve made it easier for more people to take their tests,” said Steve Giampaolo, Director of Producer Licensing and Enforcement for the DOI. “There are now 14 sites around Colorado, and with the new sites in the rural parts of the state, they really cut down on how far people will need to travel.”
The new locations are in addition to the existing testing sites: three in the Denver Metro Area (Westminster, Wheat Ridge and Greenwood Village), Colorado Springs, Greeley, Durango and Grand Junction.
The Colorado Division of Insurance uses Pearson VUE as its producer licensing vendor and contracts with Vertafore to provide electronic application and license management services for Colorado insurance producers. Pearson VUE also administers the Colorado insurance licensing exam at various military sites in Colorado, the U.S. and around the world to make it easier for military personnel or their spouses to take the test. A complete list of those military sites, as well as instructions on how to become an approved Pearson VUE military test center, can be found on the Pearson VUE military page.
