ME | Effective on May 15, 2018, the Maine Bureau of Insurance will be implementing a new process by which initial licenses will be emailed to producers, adjusters, consultants, and business entities. Initial licenses will be sent to the business email address provided in the licensee’s application. Applicants or licensees with questions should refer to the Frequently Asked Questions below or contact the Bureau’s Licensing Unit at (207) 624-8475.
Q: How soon after I am licensed will my license be emailed?
A: Licenses are emailed within 24-48 hours of the effective date of the license.
Q: What if I do not receive my emailed license?
A: If it has been more than 48 hours since your license became active, you may request a duplicate electronically through the Bureau’s website at www.maine/insurance or by completing a form and sending it to the Bureau. There is a $10 fee for duplicate licenses requested by submitting the manual form. Licensees should also contact the Bureau or check the online licensing record to make sure that our records include an up-to-date email address. See 24-A M.R.S. § 1419.
Q: Can I still receive a printed license by mail?
A: Initial licenses will automatically be sent to the applicant’s business email address provided in the application. If no email address is provided or the email address is invalid, a hard copy license will be mailed to the licensee’s mailing address within two weeks of license approval.
Q: Am I required to display my license in my office?
A: No. The Maine Insurance Code does not require that an insurance producer, adjuster, or consultant license be displayed
