MI | The Michigan Department of Insurance has issued a memorandum regarding carryover of continuing education hours. With the implementation of PA 67 of 2017, Michigan Producers and Solicitors whose licenses require completion of Continuing Education (CE) credit hours have the potential to carry additional hours forward from the current review period to the next review period.
Carryover takes effect July 1, 2018 for Producers and Solicitors with a July 1, 2018 CE review date and later.
If a licensee completes additional CE hours in the current review period, up to 12 may be applied (carried over) to the next review period. Licensees must first be compliant with their current CE review period requirements to be eligible for carryover credit hours. All carried over credit hours (earned as Ethics or General) will count toward the General hours requirement when carried over to the next review period.
CE hours – not courses – have the potential to be carried over to the next CE review period. Additional hours carried over will appear in the “Carryover Next Period” field on the Licensee Locator.
CE requirements:
Resident producers and solicitors must earn 24 credits of state-approved education every two years. Of the 24 credits, a minimum of 3 credits must be in ethics.
