VA | In March 2019, the Virginia Senate approved SB 1222. This legislation will modify requirements for resident and non-resident insurance licensing and license renewal procedures. This includes provisions for fingerprints and criminal background checks for Virginia residents applying for new insurance agent licenses. The legislation also mandates continuing education for resident licensees.
The provisions of the bill do not take effect until January 1, 2021. In the meantime, the Virginia Bureau of Insurance is preparing a communication plan to further inform licensees about the new requirements.
Stay tuned.
